Now what?
I mean, Meagan is bright and had she shown more interest in school may have been considered gifted, and Robbie keeps up with the best of them when he tries, but Katie is gifted. In a reading fluency test where the average outgoing 1st grader scores a 50-70, she scored a 180. Her teacher and I had discussed this possibility before, because I knew she was way ahead of the game, but this test was the first indicator on paper that she truly is beyond her grade level.
This morning her teacher came to me and told me that the test was a flag to identify gifted children, and whenever we were ready to have her tested, just let her know.
And her math skills are spot on...the teacher says she emphasizes reading more than math, but she gives Katie higher level problem solving and she does fine with it.
What I want to know is...how did *I* end up with a gifted child??? LOL I had to quit helping Meagan with math homework in the 4th grade because I couldn't understand how they were doing it these days. It must come from Rob, that's all I have to say LOL.
Now what do I do??
