This first post is the getting ready part. Packing, packing, and more packing. You never realize how much stuff you really have until you have to move it. And even when you have thrown away/given away piles of stuff, you STILL have a lot of stuff. Here is what the garage looked like when we thought we had so much packed.

And Packing is such hard work!

So we calculated how much we had gotten rid of, and were sure a 17 foot truck would fit everything, so we booked that puppy. But when we got it home, we suddenly weren't so sure.

So, we keep our fingers crossed and start loading her up! And of course, we had "help"

Soon we were making progress.

But about this time we realized we might have a problem. Fortunately, reinforcements arrived in the form of our good friends Jack and Natalie, and Diane and Brian. Jack was the loading king, and Natalie and Diane packed anything left in tne house that wasn't nailed down.

Soon, the truck was packed to the brim. In fact, the last thing was the king size mattress to try and keep everything in place. And there was JUST enough room for that.

BUT, we still had A LOT left to load. And the more we looked, the more we knew it wasn't going to fit in the Jeep and van.
SO, on to emergency plan 2. Instead of getting on the road early Friday morning, we were still loading after a minor adjustment to the plan.

About 1pm Friday afternoon we were finally on the road.
