Birthday? What Birthday

So....today I turned 42. For some reason I keep wanting to say 43. Not sure why I'm trying to age myself, but there it is. So I'm 42, with a 16 yo teenager and 2 almost 5 yo preschoolers. WHAT was I thinking I ask you?? By the time the twins graduate from high school, I'll be 54. WHAT I ask you...WHAT was I thinking?? LOL But you know what they say: Kids keep you young. I think they just keep you tired.

So today was my birthday, and I had a nice, quiet day planned, with a nice family dinner at the end of the day. Unfortunately, the only part of that I got was the dinner at the end, but at least it was relatively quiet.

So here's a rundown of the day.

1. Dad is in surgery first thing this morning w/double knee replacement. Get the word all is good there. good!

2. Meagan wakes up with a migraine. I send her back to bed for an hour and a half and take her to school at 8:30.

3. I get a call at 12:30 to please bring her some migraine medicine. I drop off the twins at school, get her some Excedrine Migraine and take it to school. She takes some and goes back to class

4. 2pm I get a call that she is back in the nurses office. Science teacher called the nurse to come get her. She was shaking uncontrollably and feeling faint. Vital signs were fine though, possibly hyperventilating a bit.

Go to school, pick her up, talking to the nurse we decide it might have been a reaction to the Excedrine because she didn't have much food in her system.

5. Get home to an AWFUL smell in the house. Puppy has an upset tummy. UGH. Take the dog out, take the kennel out and hose it down, wash the dog, keep him outside the next few hours while his upset tummy is still resolving itself.

6. Go out to dinner, have 2 tall beers, and birthday suddenly got much better.

So now here I am, husband and dogs quietly snoring, children all tucked in their beds, and I finally get my quiet time.
